So we have successfully made it through security without losing any items or anyone just in time to get to our gate 177 to find them beginning to check people in. Why were we so on time? Well when Mikee and I arrived at the airport, the baggage check in line stretched SO long that it went all the way behind the wall, curved around it and then a few hundred meters after that. Pretty surprise for me and Mikee, even worse for Jamie when he came since it extended another hundred meters further. When it starts getting close to seven, with our flight being at 8:45, they start shifting people around to help the Paris flight get through faster. Jamie ends up in front of us lol but we move together after that.
My bag weighed in at 8.8 kg without day pack. Mikee was 8.4 kg, I don't remember what the other two were. Anyhow, I'm currently sitting with all our carryon stuff at a table while the guys are feeding. The stupid Relay convenience store beside me is playing the entire justin bieber album oh save me...
Ahh.. Cant sleep on the plane its so uncomfortable, theres a baby crying, someone just opened the window so sunlight is BEAMING in here. I hate how Jamie can sleep through this!! Oh look the duty free cart just rolled by selling alcohol and cigarettes..

Flight
I've been on a lot of planes. And let me just say that planes are a lot more exciting when they serve complimentary alcoholic beverages. It's not even that I love drinking alcohol, but that they would serve up such a nice perk.

It makes you feel special. Also, the small dose of alcohol kind of cradles you to sleep.
The flight was at 8:30pm, and we got there at 6pm. I thought that would leave us plenty of time to check-in and relax. But I was wrong. The line leading to the baggage check was gigantic. It extended around the regular line-up area and then wrapped around two more corners. This is definitely a first for me. I've never been in such a giant lineup before.

There apparently was only one counter open to service all international departures for Air Canada. Luckily for us, half way through they pulled all the people going to Paris into a seperate line and we promptly got on our way.
The flight is rather comfy and I guess after this update entry, I'll be heading off to bed so I have enough energy for Paris. We will be arriving around 10am. I have no idea what we'll see first, but I'm sure it will be lots of fun.

Packing
It's the day before the big trip. Who would've thought packing into one backpack would be so hard? You really don't want to leave anything behind....
We, the Systems Design Engineering Alums, are going to Europe for 3.5 weeks while each living out of one backpack (well technically two). The plan is to travel through three countries - France, Switzerland, and Italy - hoping on and off trains while sightseeing till our legs say 'no more.'
Notable cities we wish to visit include: Paris, Bern, Lucerne, Geneva, Zermatt (Matterhorn), Venice, Bologna, Rome, Sicily, and maybe Milan, Nice, Monaco, Toulouse, Bordeaux. We probably won't be able to see everything that was just mentioned but I hope that adventure takes us everywhere. Also, I hope that we will have lots of fun!
It's a bitter sweet type of departure, because on the one hand I know it's going to be fun. But also at the same time, I am going to missing loved ones back in Toronto. I shall be writing lots while I'm abroad. I shall also be taking lots of photos and you know what they say: "A picture is worth a thousand words." So hopefully between those two mediums, I can keep everybody up to date on the status of our trip.
Looks like packing is almost done. Can't forget the hat of course. It'll be my way of telling everyone I'm Canadian. It was a gift from my girlfriend and I love it.
Well the flight is tomorrow around 8pm EST. Wish us a safe flight!
Thanks Mom and Dad for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to go out and explore the world. Love you guys.
